I PERSONALLY know what it's like to be out of shape - I didn't grow up having a great body or being good at sport.
I became a personal trainer to share my experiences, my knowledge and my proven system, to transform bodies of people that are just like me.

Before I got into the fitness industry I was frustrated by the way I looked and felt, I desperately wanted to change. Like so many other people in the same situation I joined a gym.
- I did exercise classes after work every day and on some weekends
I did more classes in the hope that I would get a result - desperate,
I was the only person who stayed in the room when everyone else left
and I did the next class as well. I got a little fitter but I still
didn't change my body.
- I tried restrictive diets but they would only last a few days and then I would have a massive blow-out and then the guilt was overwhelming.
- I was intimidated by all the pictures in the ads of the personal
trainers at the gym, I didn't feel like my body was the type of
body they would want to train.
- I started building a collection of workout videos I was supposed
to follow along in my living room but after doing them a couple of
times the boredom and lack of motivation made it unbearable...

- I hired exercise equipment for my home. A huge treadmill had the pride of place in a tiny lounge room of my apartment. I had exercise equipment but I wasn't motivated to use it.
- One day in desperation I even bought an Ab-exerciser from daytime television. I can tell you first hand that you cannot reduce your waist size by working your abs alone.
But I still wasn't getting the result I wanted. I still had a yearning for that body I could see in my dreams. Nothing was changing.
I wasted months and years trying to workout by myself and got nowhere.
I didn't think anyone else had my problem, I just thought that there was something wrong with me.
Why was it when I made changes to my food and went to the gym that I didn't get a result?
Why did my body not respond the way I thought everyone else's does?
I just didn't know what to do and my tears and frustration were building inside.
I tried it ALL and NONE of it worked for me.
I needed a different strategy, something that fitted into my lifestyle, something I felt comfortable doing, something that was sustainable and just made sense.
I KNEW there had to be something more to it, something I
was missing, something I was doing wrong and I was determined to find
out what it was...
So what was my new approach?
I literally spent HUNDREDS of hours studying. I read every book I could get my hands on about fitness and nutrition. I researched all the techniques used by fitness trainers, figure models and athletes. I found out how body builders can have body fat as low as 3%- while your average person in the street has at least 30-40% body fat. I studied and applied things that worked and others that didn't. Night after night I stayed up until sunrise trying to figure out the perfect weight loss program.
I found out what worked, I found out what doesn't work and I put this into a program that works for very busy people who just haven't had time to train before.
The program I put together didn't just work on myself, after testing it on myself I tested it on my whole family and everyone got a fantastic result.
People started practically BEGGING me to help them lose

So I gave a few pointers here and there but I actually didn't put too
much thought into it... But guess what?
The first person I helped lost 14 kilos in less than 9 weeks... and the next lost 23 kilos in just 5 months! Keep in mind these were the first two people I helped... I was brand new to this whole thing and just doing it for FUN... but it made me realise just how much I enjoyed helping people...
I then started training other people. And that's when something strange happened.
At first I was hesitant to get into the personal training industry because I had friends who told me horror stories about personal trainers they'd hired.
After all, I myself had been too intimidated to approach a personal trainer.
My friends told me about their personal trainers doing nothing but taking their money... how their personal trainers just stood around with a clipboard during the workout talking about their personal lives... and how their personal trainers didn't seem to know anything about getting them into shape....
And one of the biggest complaints people had was that their personal trainers always took them through the same old BORING workout routine - this makes the workouts highly INEFFECTIVE because your body adapts quickly to any routine you give it and will soon stop making progress.
Worse still they told me their personal trainer never talked to them about their goals, didnt customise their workouts, didnt listen to them and often worked them so hard they couldnt move the next day.
But just because there were so many awful personal trainers in the industry I refused to let that stop me. In fact, I decided to use that in my favour by setting a positive example for other trainers to follow.
At first I got a job as a personal trainer at a well known chain of gyms.
I quickly became frustrated when I found out the management didn't care one tiny bit if the personal trainers actually got people results or not. All they cared about were the numbers... this wasnt the reason I became a personal trainer.
I knew if I was going help people get into incredible shape I'd have to break away from the industry standards and set up my own training facility. So I went off on my own, became certified through Fitness Australia and started Oxygen Personal Training Studio.
In a short matter of time I was able to help so many people get the bodies they wanted... at such a rapid rate... that the demand for my services literally shot through the roof!
